Elvis Costello brings more than five decades of restless musical invention to the OLG Stage at Fallsview Casino as Elvis Costello & The Imposters with Charlie Sexton arrive in Niagara Falls with the Radio Soul! The Songs of Elvis Costello from the Early Days to the Late Hours tour.
Emerging from Britain’s late-1970s new wave era, Costello quickly established himself as one of his generation’s most distinctive songwriters, combining sharp, literate lyrics with a musical vocabulary that has continually expanded beyond rock and pop into soul, country, jazz and orchestral music. His catalogue stretches from early favourites including “Alison,” “Watching the Detectives” and “Oliver’s Army” through “Man Out of Time,” “Veronica,” “I Want You” and countless turns and detours along the way.
The Radio Soul! tour began with an emphasis on material released between 1977’s My Aim Is True and 1986’s Blood & Chocolate, but has since expanded its reach from Costello’s early days to his later work, leaving plenty of room for surprises from a remarkably deep songbook.
Costello is joined by longtime collaborators The Imposters and acclaimed guitarist Charlie Sexton, whose extensive career includes work with Bob Dylan, David Bowie, Keith Richards and numerous others.
A Grammy Award winner and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Costello has spent his career resisting easy categorization while collaborating with artists as varied as Paul McCartney, Burt Bacharach, Allen Toussaint and Tony Bennett.
